This week we welcomed a few new friends to our class and we wrapped up our second and final week of Summer School! We had a fun and busy week exploring animals on the farm through various activities. Take a look at some of the things we've been up to...

今週は新しいお友達を数名迎えてサマースクールの最後の週である２週目を無事に終えることができました。様々な学習活動を通して農場にいる動物について学び、楽しい内容が盛沢山の１週間でした。教室での学習内容を一部ご紹介します。

Take a Peek at Our Week - Basic (Primary) - W2: Down on the Farm!

This is the second week of our Summer school. We are down on the farm, learning about animals, where they live, and how farm animals help us. As usual, we started our day with the hula hoop pass, we are getting quite good, we managed one minute and four seconds, will we be able to pass it in under a minute? Read on to find out.
サマースクールの第二週目でした。牧場の生活をテーマに、動物、動物たちがどんな場所に住んでいるか、そして動物たちがどんな風に私たちの生活にかかわっているのかについて学びました。何時ものようにフラフープ渡しのチャレンジから一日をスタートしました。かなり上手になってきたので、1分4秒で一周させることができました。もしかしたら1分以内も夢ではなかったかも？それでは早速、こどもたちの様子を見ていきましょう。

Take a Peek at Our Week - Basic #1 - W2: Down on the Farm

On the first day of summer camp on the farm we explored different animals that lived on the farm. We mostly focused on chicken and how chickens lay eggs for our omelettes cakes and other ingredients. We then sang a song I know with chicken and danced to it with our own fake little eggs children had so much fun learning about eggs and how we eat them every day.


農場でのサマーキャンプ初日は、農場で暮らす様々な種類の動物をみていきました。まず初めに注目したのはにわとりで、私たちがよく口にするオムレツやケーキ、そして他の料理の材料となる卵を、にわとりがどうやって産むのかを学習しました。その他、作り物の卵を手に、にわとりの歌をうたったり踊ったりし、毎日私たちがどの様に卵を食べているか、楽しく学びました。

Welcome to Summer School! - Week 2 - English Immersion Basic Class #2

Hello and welcome to our second week of Summer School! For those of you who are new to the class, please allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Ms. Ebony. I am the Kindergarten teacher here at HJIS, and I’m
thrilled to be working with your child this summer. I am from New York, USA. I have lived in the United Arab Emirates and in Ghana before moving here to
Japan. My passion is early childhood education and I have been teaching
for 10 years. I love to travel and to learn about different cultures. I am so
delighted to be in Japan and to call both Sendai and Horizon my home for
the past 4+ years.

Our theme this week is Down on the Farm. Throughout the week we will learn about farm life and the many animals who live on the farm. We will explore
our theme through various activities (art, language, math, cooking,
experiments) songs and games.

I look forward to another busy and exciting week ahead!

Welcome to Summer School! - Week 2 - English Immersion & Art Class

Welcome to 2nd week of Horizon International School  summer school 

My name is Ms. Yesim and I am from Turkey.

I came to Sendai 7  years ago and I have been working in Horizon

for 6.5 years.

It is a pleasure to meet you. 

My assistant teacher is Ms. Celine, she is also our preschool assistant teacher here at Horizon. She is very positive and great supportive assistant teacher. Ms. Celine and I are very excited to see your children in our classroom.

We will have interns in summer school from Sendai Ikuei Haigh School. They will

support our activities in classroom.

This week's theme is down on the farm. We will explore farm life and farm animals

with full of fun activities. 

We plan to fill our second week with cooking activity, pool time, special art lessons 

and various games.

We are looking forward to have safe, fun and enthusiastic second week.
