サマースクールの第二週目でした。牧場の生活をテーマに、動物、動物たちがどんな場所に住んでいるか、そして動物たちがどんな風に私たちの生活にかかわっているのかについて学びました。何時ものようにフラフープ渡しのチャレンジから一日をスタートしました。かなり上手になってきたので、1分4秒で一周させることができました。もしかしたら1分以内も夢ではなかったかも？それでは早速、こどもたちの様子を見ていきましょう。
We learned about animal habitats. First, we listened to a description of where the animal lives. Next, we found the pace on our farmyard, then a volunteer came and wrote the animal's name on the interactive white board.
動物たちの習性について学びました。どんな場所に住んでいるのかについての説明を聞きました。牧場を描いたイラストに動物たちの切り抜きを貼り付けました。高校生ボランティアの皆さんには教室内に設置されている電子ボードに動物たちの名前を書いてもらいました。
We burned off some energy with a song. Everybody enjoyed singing 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm.'
歌を歌って元気を充電しました。こどもたちはみんな、「マクドナルド爺さん」の歌を楽しんでいたようです。
We also did some bowling with Farm and Animal flashcards. One person came to the front and listened. Their team mates called out the name of the animal or farm item. We had great fun while were farmyard vocabulary.
牧場の動物たちのフラッシュカードを使ってボーリングゲームをしました。
一人が前に進み出て、耳を澄まします。
チームメートが牧場の動物や、牧場の道具の名前を言います。
牧場に関するいろいろな語彙を練習しながら、楽しい時間を過ごしました。
牧場の生活をテーマに初日から集中して取り組みました。足や手を使って、牧場の動物たちの絵を創作しました。

火曜日のレッスンへようこそ
Unfortunately, we dropped our hula hoop, our time is up to three minutes, oh dear, hopefully, we shall do better tomorrow.
残念ながらフラフープを落としてしまい、一週させるのに3分かかってしまいました。きっと明日はうまくいくはず。
今日は朝から「自分の好きな色」について話をしました。その後、牧場の動物たちのビンゴゲームで遊びました。
We felt a bit hungry after all that learning, so we decided to make some butter. It was hard work shaking the cream, but it was worth it when it was time to eat the creamy butter with bread and jam.
たくさんいろいろなことを勉強してお腹がすいたので、バターを作ることにしました。
クリームを激しくシェイクするのはとても大変な作業でしたが、出来上がったバターをパンとジャムと一緒に食べてみたら、それだけの大変な作業をするだけの価値があったとわかりました。
We rounded off the day with some active learning down in the gym. We reinforced our animal vocabulary with some bowling fun.
一日の最後には体育館で体を使ったアクティブ・ラーニングを行いました。
ボーリングゲームを通して、これまでに学んだ牧場の動物たちの語彙を復習しました。

水曜日のレッスンへようこそ！
Today we slightly improved our hula hoop passing score, 1 minute and thirty-three seconds. We will keep practising to try and beat our best time.
フラフープチャレンジに進展が見られました。1分33秒です。新記録達成のために、引き続き頑張ります。
Next up we mingled together and asked each other about our favourite farmyard foods. Hamburgers were very popular.
みんなで一緒になって、お互いに好きな牧場の食べ物について尋ねあいました。
ハンバーガーが人気のようでした。
休憩の前に、グラフ化する練習をしました。まず初めに赤ちゃん動物の数を数え、その数を棒グラフで表しました。
Before lunch, we learned about how sound travels. After learning about vibrations by feeling our throats as we sang. Next, we got hands on. We made our very own telephones. Next, we used our telephones to help our partners fill in the missing information and colour their farmyards.
ランチタイムの前には「音」がどんな風に伝わるのかについて学びました。
歌う時の自分自身の喉の感触から、振動について学びました。
次は製作と実験です。
糸電話を作り、情報交換をしました。
We continued to learn about sound in our world culture class. We made our own maracas from sand and plastic bottles. Then we made beautiful music as we sang 'Old MacDonald Had A Farm'.
「ワールドカルチャー」のレッスン時間にも音について学びました。
砂とペットボトルを使って自分だけのマラカスを作りました。
そして「マクドナルド爺さん」の歌を歌いながら、美しい音色を響かせました。

木曜日のレッスンにようこそ。
Our hula hoop passing skills haven't noticeably improved. Perhaps on Friday, we can pass it in less than a minute.
フラフープチャレンジに大きな進展はみられませんでした。おそらく金曜日にはきっと、1分以内に一周させることができるのではないでしょうか。
Despite this disappointment with the hula hoop, we had fun singing and dancing.
フラフープチャレンジの結果は残念でしたが、歌やダンスで楽しい時間を過ごしました。
Today, we had a Japanese themed festival, in world culture class.
今日はワールドカルチャーのレッスン時間に、日本のお祭りについてとりあげました。
It was a bit overcast, and grey but some of us decided to take a dip in the pool.
この日は曇り空で少し肌寒かったですが、プールにも入りました。
We played farmyard bingo and reviewed the names of baby animals. We also retold the story of Chicken Little, the silly chicken who thought the sky was falling.
ビンゴゲームをして、動物の赤ちゃんの呼び方を復習しました。
また、空が落ちてくるんじゃないか！？勘違いしたヒヨコのお話を読みました。

ついに金曜日です
..and we finally beat Monday's hula hoop time. 1 minute and two seconds was our fastest time. Great teamwork everyone.
